Los Alcazares town is situated in the Murcia region of South Eastern Spain, Also known as the Costa Calida. The town nestles on the shores of the Mar Menor, a salt water lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a 22km long piece of land called La Manga “The Sleeve”

The area enjoys an average of 320 days of sunshine per year.

The warm shallow water of the Mar Menor provides a paradise for sun worshipers and water sports enthusiasts. The mineral rich waters of the Mar Menor are renowned for their health giving properties & the town still has thermal baths, which have existed since Roman times.

Los Alcazares (pronounced Los Al-catha-res) is a family holiday resort with a relaxed friendly atmosphere. It has many Restaurants, Bars and Shops. It is very much a traditional Spanish family holiday resort and therefore you will not find nightclubs or Disco Bars in the immediate area.

The Beach

The Beach areas in Los Alcazares run parallel to the main road in the town. The easiest way to access the beach is via the El Balneario Plaza and thoroughfare adjacent to the Mercadona Supermarket. When you reach the end you will see a restaurant called Angela’s, cross the road and proceed down the next pedestrian area and the beach will be in front of you. You can then walk along the promenade either left or right around the bay. The promenade runs for approximately 5 Kilometers. Being a lagoon the Sea is very shallow and warm; also the tide is virtually non existent which makes it child friendly. There are a number of beach bars, Cafes and Restaurants scattered along the Sea front/Promenade.

There are many opportunities for shopping in and around Los Alcazares and the local towns of Cartegena and Murcia .

Locally there are a couple of shopping centres. “Dos Mares” is a fairly large centre which is situated on the road to San Javier.

There are larger complexes, with internationally recognised outlets in Cartegena and Murcia .
